Area residents who enjoy birds, whether they’re confident of their identification skills or not, are welcome to join a bird walk on Sunday, May 19, 7-10 AM, coordinated by The Andover Community Hub. The walk will be led by Alan McIntyre, experienced birder, environmental science teacher and chair of Proctor Academy’s Science Department, who enjoys sharing his knowledge of birds with others, both those who are beginners as well as more advanced birders.
The group will gather at the Blackwater Ski Area parking lot off Lawrence Street. Alan hopes to be able to show participants lots of returning migrants, including the American Redstart, Veery, Chestnut-Sided warbler and Scarlet Tanager. He’ll have binoculars to share with those who don’t have their own. He suggests participants be prepared for bugs and any kind of weather, but asks that they leave their dogs at home.
