The regular club meeting of the Elkins Fish and Game Club was held at the Tracy Memorial Library in New London. The Elkins Fish and Game Club awarded 10 camperships to children for summer programs at Barry Conservation Camp, located at the Berlin Fish Hatchery.
Attending the Fish Camp session will be Bradly Abair and Geoffrey Mumford. Attending the Hunter Education session will be Lynlee, Landen, Levi, and Lynlee Gove, Adam Sprunger, and Noelle Swanson. Attending the North Country Adventure session will be Kai Herman. Attending the Junior Conservation Officer session will be Isaac Knox and Derik Swanson.
The club has been sending area children to camp since 1993 and these 10 campers bring the total numbers of campers sent to 175 boys and girls. Barry Conservation Camp is operated by the University of New Hampshire Cooperative Extension’s 4-H Program, in cooperation with the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department.
Camperships are for programs which focus on fishing, shooting sports, and hunter education. “These areas of interest fit the club’s mission and we are delighted each year to make this significant contribution to the area’s youth; to date nearly $65,000 in camperships and over $5,000 in sponsorship was contributed to the camp’s Coyote Cabin,” said Mike Gelcius, club president.
