KNP Korner — May 2024

Press release

Kearsarge Neighborhood Partners (KNP) is a non-profit dedicated to building a communitywhere neighbors help each other flourish. We collaborate with over 40 community partners serving 10 towns in the Kearsarge region, matching the needs of neighbors with committed volunteers who can help in short-term or longer-term situations.

Not only is the entire community healthier when everyone has enough to eat, but gardeningprovides a connection to nature, can be a shared activity, and adds to gardeners’ personal well-being! Five area organizations are now sponsoring the 5th Annual TRAY IT FORWARD vegetable seedling program to help folks learn to garden and to produce some of their own
fresh food all summer.

KNP volunteers have been hard at work each week, helping Spring Ledge Farm seed and transplant vegetable seedlings. If you live in one of the 10 towns served by KNP and would benefit from receiving a tray of garden seedlings, or if you would like to sponsor a tray of garden seedlings for a neighbor to receive at no cost, please click the “Tray it Forward” button at KNPnh.org.

KNP and Kearsarge Climate Action partnered last year on the first WindowDressers community build. We provided 209 low-cost custom insulated storm window inserts, keeping 29 area homes warmer, saving heating costs, and lowering CO2 emissions. This year the goal is to build 250 inserts (almost half of which are already reserved by hopeful customers!).

We need folks to measure windows this spring and summer, as well as shift supervisors and workers for four-hour stints during the build week, which will occur this fall at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church. All training is provided, and we promise you will have fun working with your neighbors on this fantastic project. Please email info@nullKNPnh.org if you are new to WindowDressers and would like information on participating.

KNP is honored to have such wonderful community partners! The Andover Hub offers an amazingly wide array of programs to the Kearsarge region. KNP representatives have been inspired by meeting regularly with The Hub to brainstorm ways we can partner by spreading their offerings to area residents, particularly seniors who can most benefit from opportunities to
socialize and stay active.
