Donald H. Tilton, Sr., 81, of Pound Road, Wilmot, died Saturday, May 18 at his home.
He was born in New London, New Hampshire, on October 2, 1942, the son of William J. and Marjorie (Joyce) Tilton.
Don had been a lifelong resident of Wilmot, graduating from Andover High School in 1961. He served in the US Army and returned home to work for Morton Walker. Later he worked for New London Fuel Company as a master plumber and electrician and after many years of employment decided to start his own business. For roughly 20+ years, he owned and operated Donald H. Tilton Plumbing and Heating, until he chose to retire.
An avid outdoorsman, Don has enjoyed fishing, hunting, skiing, golfing, gardening, and horseshoes. He was very talented and diverse, and liked cooking, baking, sewing, golf, video games, and playing the guitar. Many people will remember Donny for his cowboy hats, shirts, and boots.
Don is survived by a son, Donald H. Tilton, Jr. of Wilmot; a daughter, Jennifer Tilton of Andover; a grandson, Joshua Vallee of Andover; three sisters, Joyce Rand of Wilmot, Patricia Tilton of Norway, Maine, and Rebecca Perez of Sutton; nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by siblings, William “Billy” Tilton and Judy Nelson.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, May 28 at 2 PM at the New Hampshire Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen. Memorial contributions may be made to Lake Sunapee Region Visiting Nurse Association, P.O. Box 2209, New London, NH 03257.
