Book Editor Explores the Art of Editing at Hub Workshop

Thursday, September 26, 7 PM

Press release

ANDOVER-Residents are invited to join Andover resident and book editor Rebecca Didier at The Andover Community Hub on Thursday, September 26, at 7 PM, for a discussion of the critical, complicated, fraught, and fascinating relationship between an editor and the authors he or she works with. The event is open to the public at no charge.

Didier will trace this relationship as seen through the lens of two of her recent projects, a biography of beloved children’s book author Marguerite Henry (Misty of Chincoteague, Justin Morgan Had a Horse, King of the Wind) and a memoir of a real-life cowboy wife. Didier has worked for independent publisher Trafalgar Square Books of North Pomfret, Vermont, for 22 years, where she currently serves as both Managing Editor and Graphic Designer.

Tracing the evolution of each book, from initial query to launch, Rebecca will share the ins and outs of book publishing and details of the process, as well as stories unique to the friendships she has developed with both authors — one an East Coast wine columnist for the Wall Street Journal, and the other a wife and mother who has lived on some of the most remote ranches of the American West.

In explaining how she helped shape both their artistic journeys, Rebecca will explore the importance of seeing the world, even if just for 200 pages, through someone else’s eyes. Questions about books, writing, and any part of the publishing process will be welcome throughout the discussion, and copies of both books will be available for purchase.

The Hub is located at 157 Main Street and is an accessible building. For more information, contact theandoverhub@nullgmail.com or 603 735-5509.
