September is Renew Your Library Card Month at Andover Libraries

After December 31, old cards will expire

By Michaela Hoover

aNDOVER-The Andover Libraries are going through a period of renewal and that includes our library cards! We’re asking everyone who has a library card to stop in between now and December 31, 2024, to update their contact information. It is very simple and takes about two minutes! We’ll make sure we have your correct address, phone number, email, and birth month.

After December 31st, all library cards that haven’t been renewed will expire. If you use Libby or hoopla, our digital collections, your access will be closed until your card is renewed. Expired cards will be kept on file for two years and then the numbers will be reallocated to new patrons.

We’re going through this process for three reasons. One, we have realized we have a lot of outdated contact information for our patrons. Two, we want to secure our digital collections and make sure they are being used by people in our community. Three, we need to make sure we have accurate data on our patron numbers for our New Hampshire State Library surveys.

Going forward, your library cards will need to be renewed each year during your birth month, which gives you a great opportunity to swing by the library and discover all the wonderful services we provide. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we go through this process!
