East Andover – Wanda Louise Smith, 78, passed away in Englewood, Florida, on August 17, 2024, after a brief illness.
Wanda was born in New London, New Hampshire, on April 22,1946, the daughter of Leona and Burton Prescott. She attended Andover High School and graduated from Franklin High School.
Most of her life she lived in Andover. After retirement she moved to Englewood, Florida. Early in her career she was employed by Proctor Academy and, later, worked for the New Hampshire Department of Corrections at the state prison, from which she retired.
Reading, mulling over future recipes, tending her flower gardens, and entertaining like Martha Stewart were essential to her life. She was thoughtful and creative. Everyone who knocked on her door was graciously greeted, but also subject to her quick witted tongue! She loved to tell stories that drew laughs. Often the stories were about her missteps.
Wanda was active in the Garden Club in Englewood, Florida, where she found it a challenge learning names of plants not ever seen in Andover.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her loving husband of 59 years, Gerald R Smith; son, Christopher Smith; and, son, Todd Smith.
She is survived by her sister, Dawn Kinevich; uncle, Ken Rounds; grandchildren, Morgan and Taylor Smith; sisters-in-law, Eleanor George, Constance McLeod, and Janet Kuhlmeyer; and nieces and nephews.
A service at Proctor Cemetery will be held in October.
