Andover’s Deputy Moderator Shares Election Wish List

Vote Tuesday, November 5; 8 AM to 7 PM

By Lee Wells

The General Election is coming Tuesday, November 5. The polls at Andover Elementary/Middle School open at 8 AM and close at 7 PM.

If you are a registered Andover voter, please remember to bring your ID. If you will be registering to vote on Election Day, please remember to bring proof of age, citizenship, and domicile. Please check the New Hampshire Secretary of State’s website to see which documents will satisfy these requirements.

Deputy Moderator’s Wish List
1. VOTE! Democracy works best when everyone votes. You may consider voting your right and your privilege, but most important, it is your responsibility.

2. BE AN INFORMED VOTER! Please rise above the partisan rancor, the name-calling, the negative ads, the click bait, the conspiracy theories, the misinformation, the disinformation, the foreign interferences, etc.

Please research the candidates and policies using more than one reliable source. Keep in mind what is important to you and what is best for the common good. Remember that your ballot is a secret ballot, so you don’t need to tell anyone how you voted.

3. VOTE WISELY! Read and follow the directions on the ballot. If you choose to write in a name for an office, ideally that person has launched a write-in campaign and they agree to be a write-in candidate. Please no cartoon characters or dead people.

Please write that name in carefully and legibly. Nothing slows the counting process down more than counting, recording, and reporting the results of a large number of frivolous write-in votes.

I look forward to seeing you at the polls on November 5. Thank you for making the effort and taking the time to be a responsible and informed American voter. Please be kind and respectful to the election volunteers who are working together to help our town.
