Kearsarge Neighborhood Partners (KNP) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to building a community where neighbors help each other flourish. We collaborate with over 40 community partners serving 10 towns in the Kearsarge region, matching the needs of neighbors with committed volunteers who can help in short-term or longer-term situations.
On September 9, 26 volunteers, including a large group of Professor Ann Fournier’s Colby-Sawyer College students and KNP volunteers, worked side-by-side to glean 560 pounds of beautiful, fresh carrots. That’s a lot of carrots! Many thanks to Spring Ledge Farm for offering us the opportunity to share in their bounty.
The vegetables went to the Kearsarge Food Hub, which sorted, packaged, and distributed them to local food pantries in New London, Henniker, and Bradford, as well as the FREEdge at Sweet Beet Market. NH Gleans also gratefully accepted some to distribute farther afield in New Hampshire.
Window Dressers are coming! KNP will partner with Kearsarge Climate Action to provide 250 low-cost window inserts, keeping area homes warmer, saving heating costs, and lowering CO2 emissions.
Registration is open for community members to sign up for a four-hour stint as an insulated window insert builder, a greeter, food provider, or to supply transportation during the Window Dressers Community Build, November 14 to 20, at St. Andrews Church in New London. All training is provided, and there are lots of ways to participate, so please email info@nullknpnh.org if you can join us for this terrific community effort!
A new school year has begun, and it’s the perfect time to sign up to mentor a school-age student. Kearsarge Regional Elementary Schools and Andover Elementary are looking for adults to work with Windsor County Mentors of Sullivan County, which has 50 years of experience administering mentoring programs.
You can join this extraordinary program any time during the school year, meeting with a student at school, one hour/week. WCM will train you and match you with a child. For more information, email: info@nullwcmentors.org, or call 802 674-5101.
