Book Group Discusses Major New England Hurricane

Thirty-Eight: The Hurricane that Transformed New England by Stephen Long

Press release

The Wilmot Historical Society’s (WHS) book group will discuss Thirty-Eight: The Hurricane that Transformed New England by Stephen Long, at 10 AM, on Saturday, December 7, at the home of a book group member. This thoroughly researched and compelling story includes interviews with several people who lived in New Hampshire and experienced the storm firsthand.

Of Thirty-Eight, biologist Bernd Heinrich states: “A must read for anyone interested in forest succession, weather patterns, and the history of New England.” Copies of the book are available at the Wilmot Public Library and can be ordered from Morgan Hill Bookstore.

The WHS Book Discussion Group, established more than 10 years ago, meets quarterly: September, December, March, and June. The group discusses books on a wide range of topics. Most selections are nonfiction, but occasionally the group reads historical fiction.

New members are always welcome. The meeting is free and open to the public. More information and the meeting address is available from Marc Davis at marcsdavis@nulltds.net.
