The Student Prince

June 12-23

Straight from the headlines, Prince Karl Franz of Karlsberg falls for a commoner while at  a University in Sigmund Romberg’s gorgeous 1930s operetta. Will he follow his heart or perform his stately duty and marry the Princess to whom he is betrothed? Our production will bring together the talents of Acting Interns Elaine Daiber, Max Hunter, Alexis Ann Bruza, Richard Lindenfelzer, and Chris McNiff, with Barn favorite Sara Schoch (Mother in last summer’s Ragtime, New Hampshire Theatre Award winner for Best Actress in a Musical) and Broadway’s Raymond Sage (Beauty and the Beast, Camelot, and last summer’s Tateh in Ragtime, NHTA winner for Best Actor in a Musical). Barn newcomer Eugenio Vargas will play Prince Karl Franz. Under the direction of Lily King (assistant director on Tony Award-winning Peter and the Starcatcher and associate director on the upcoming Broadway production of Rocky: The Musical), this production is not to be missed!

The Music Man

June 26-July 14

As American as apple pie, The Music Man is the story of con man Harold Hill, whose plans backfire when beautiful Marian the Librarian teaches him a lesson in music and in love. Featuring “76 Trombones,” “‘Til There Was You,” and “Trouble,” this is a family classic for all ages. The Music Man features Acting Interns Allison Bailey, Xavier Curry, and Tony Conaty, with Sara Schoch as Marian Paroo, Thom Miller (2010’s Picasso at the Lapin Agile) as Harold Hill, and 2011 Barnie Andrew Miller as Marcellus Washburn. Choreographed by Jesse Factor, former member of the Martha Graham Company, who returns after choreographing last year’s Oklahoma, 2010’s Carousel and 2011’s Chicago.

Singin’ in the Rain

July 17-28

This classic comes to the Barn complete with hilarity (“Make ‘em Laugh”), romance (“You are my Lucky Star”), and… yes, rain! The heartwarming and hilarious story of Hollywood as it made the difficult transition from silent movies to “talkies,” Singin in the Rain is simply the best Hollywood Musical of all time. Barn Acting Intern Hannah Kornfeld plays Kathy Seldon, and 2012 Barnies Edward Tolve and Jason Moody (2011’s George and Robert Martin, respectively, in the NHTA winning The Drowsy Chaperone) will play Cosmo Brown and Don Lockwood. Also, 2012 Barnie Taryn Tonelli (Evelyn Nesbit in last year’s award-winning Ragtime).

A Legendary Romance

July 31-August 4

For the first time in its 85 year history, the Barn is premiering a new musical! Retired film producer Joseph Lindy must re-examine his painful past when a film is made about his life. Horrified by the film’s inaccuracies, Joseph tries to rewrite his life story, but with a happy Hollywood ending. A beautiful, original piece that’s not to be missed by Barn audiences. Featuring Thom Miller (2010’s Picasso at the Lapin Agile), Jenna Sisson (2010 Barnie and 2011’s Almost Maine), and Matt Cohn (2008 Barnie, 2010’s Picasso at the Lapin Agile, and 2011’s Almost Maine)

Les Miserables

August 7-18

Based on Victor Hugo’s classic novel, Les Miserables is an epic and uplifting story about the survival of the human spirit. The magnificent score includes the classic songs “I Dreamed a Dream,” “On My Own,” “Do You Hear the People Sing?” and many more. Barn acting Interns Storm Lineberger, Pedar Benson Bate, Kyle Jean-Baptiste, Emily Wisser, Keri Rene’ Fuller, and Kayley Anne Collins join Barn newcomer George Merrick. Choreographed by Gregory Daniels (2010’s award-winning Hairspray and last year’s Hair).

Laughter on the 23rd Floor

Neil Simon’s love letter to his years as a young writer for Sid Caesar’s Show of Shows captures the hilarity and heart of television’s glory days; one of Simon’s funniest and most touching comedies. Under the direction of B.T. McNicholl (Broadway’s Billy Elliot: The Musical and director of the Barn’s 2011 NHTA-winning The Drowsy Chaperone), Laughter brings together years of Barn alumni – Rachel Jones (2010), Andrew Miller and Edward Tolve (2011), and Jacob Tischler and Meredith Lark (2012).
