New Tai Chi Classes Set to Begin

The eight-week series begins Thursday, Nov 14

Press release

New eight-week Tai Chi classes will begin on Thursday, November 14, at The Andover Community Hub, for students at three levels: beginning, intermediate, and advanced. This ancient Chinese exercise regimen was originally developed for self-defense, but has evolved into a controlled, slow-moving form of exercise that’s now used for stress reduction, improved balance and strength, and to help manage a variety of other health conditions by people of all ages.

Beginning Tai Chi meets at 6:30 PM and will introduce to students new to Tai Chi, or those who would like a refresher, the beginning movements of Tai Chi Gong and the first section of the Yang slow set; the series fee is $125. The intermediate class meets at 4 PM and focuses on the second and third sections of the Yang slow set, including turns, spins, and kicks; the fee is $125. The advanced class meets at 5:15 PM and has a fee of $160; this class is for those who have previously learned the entire Yang slow set and are ready to move on to more advanced sets.

All three classes are taught by Blake McNeil, a resident of Sutton, who has been studying Tai Chi for 28 years and who also assists with classes at the Tung Tai Chi Chuan Academy in Concord.  Pre-registration is required by contacting TheAndoverHub@nullgmail.com or The Hub office at 603 735-5509. Checks can be mailed to The Hub at PO Box 157, Andover, NH 03216 or dropped off in the outside mailbox to the right of The Hub’s front door at 157 Main Street.
