Mark E. Thompson — November 15, 2024

EAST ANDOVER — Mark E. Thompson, 76, dad, grampa, friend, passed away peacefully at the Concord Hospital on November 15 with his family, friends, and companion at his side.

Mark was raised and lived in East Andover throughout his lifetime. He graduated from Franklin High School in 1966. He married the love of his life, Sandra Rayno, of Franklin. Mark and Sandra had three sons, and they have married and had families.

Mark started his own business, Mark E. Thompson Excavating Inc., and was sole owner and operator for 57 years! He was such a hardworking, dedicated man who took pride in all his work. He worked right up until the last week of his life.

Mark was a volunteer on the East Andover Fire Department. One of Mark’s remarkable stories is that he was the longest standing elected road agent for Andover.

He enjoyed spending time at his home on Highland Lake with family and friends, either sitting on his deck visiting or taking a putt on his boat around the lake. He also enjoyed going to the ocean. In winter months Mark would enjoy going to his Florida home.

He is predeceased by his parents, Alan Thompson and Florence (Hall) Thompson, and siblings, Madelyn Baker, Jane Currier, and John Thompson. Mark is survived by his sister, Carolyn (Thompson) Currier of Hampstead, New Hampshire; longtime companion, Nancy (Burney) Rondeau; sons, John “Tiny” (Christine Vigue) Thompson, James “Jim” Thompson, and Jerry Thompson, all of East Andover; grandchildren, Jaime (Matt) Jablonski, Jeremy “JJ” Thompson, Jason “Tiggie” (Chelsea Lafond) Thompson, India Thompson (fiance Erik Kane), Chelsea (Kenny) Avery, Alan Thompson, and Kathryn Thompson; great-grandchildren, Gunner, Ashlyn, Weslee, Gracie, Billy, Able, Zoey, and Teddy; nieces, nephews, godchild, and friends.

There were no calling hours. Mark’s life was celebrated at Thompson Field on November 24, directly across from Lake View Cemetery, East Andover.
