FRANKLIN — The City of Franklin was dispatched to a reported building fire in early December at 10 Hutchinson Street. The Tilton-Northfield Fire & EMS and Bristol Fire Departments were also toned as automatic aid. As Franklin crews responded, the dispatch center updated the report declaring a garage fully involved and extending into the house.

Franklin Captain McNulty called for a First Alarm immediately and then upgraded to a Second Alarm once he arrived on scene. Franklin units arrived to heavy fire from the garage and extension into the house. Crews entered the house with a hose line and met heavy fire in the kitchen.

Additional crews arrived and placed water on the garage and four automobiles burning in front of the home. Searches for trapped occupants and fire extension were completed. No additional occupants were located.

Fire was found to have extended to the second floor of the home and crews worked quickly to extinguish the fire. Overhaul of the area and the garage was extensive, taking crews over an hour to complete. One of the occupants was medically evaluated and released.

There were no firefighter injuries. The cause of the fire is under investigation, but it appears to be accidental.

Thank you to all of our mutual aid partners for their hard work. Franklin was assisted on scene by Bristol Fire Department, Tilton-Northfield Fire & EMS, Sanbornton Fire Department, Belmont Fire Department, Hill Fire Department, Boscawen Fire Department, New Hampton Fire Department, Laconia Fire Department, Gilford Fire Department, Concord Fire Department, and the Lakes Region Mutual Fire Aid. One additional call was received and was handled by Andover Fire Department and Penacook Rescue Squad while covering the Franklin Fire Station.
