Hub Offers Two Opportunities to Paint in March

Paint & Sip and Watercolor for Beginners

Press release

ANDOVER — Two opportunities to explore creativity with paint will be offered at The Andover Community Hub during March. On Friday, March 7, from 6 to 8 PM, “Paint & Sip” will offer a fun evening, while participants also learn a thing or two about painting, taught by Andover artist Molly Leith.

Using a still life by Piet Mondrian as an example, participants will create their own colorful and contemporary still life, while experimenting with warm and cool colors and color shading. Limited to 12 participants, advance registration is required, and pre-payment guarantees a spot. The fee of $25 includes wine, soda, snacks, and art supplies.

A “Watercolor for Beginners” class begins on Sunday, March 23, and runs for four Sundays, from 1 to 3 PM, taught by Andover artist Melanie Shaw, of Mountain Meadow Studio. In her own work, she is particularly drawn to regional birds and flowers, local landscapes, and coastal scenery. This class is perfect for anyone who has always wanted to try watercolor or who would like to refresh their skills, and will combine short demonstrations and practice to give students confidence with this medium.

Class size is limited to six. The required materials packet includes 24 top quality paints, eight professional brushes, sketching materials and watercolor pads, as well as additional supply handouts in class, and will be sufficient to keep students painting long after the class ends. The class fee of $125 can be paid to The Hub by check or cash; the materials package is $100 and can be paid directly to Melanie.

To register, or if you have questions regarding either opportunity, contact 603 735-5509 or TheAndoverHub@nullgmail.com. The Hub is located at 157 Main Street.
