ANDOVER – The polls open at 11 AM and close at 7 PM. Please bring your ID. You may request absentee ballots; please see Lisa Meier, Town Clerk (hours below).
You may register to vote on the 11th. Please bring an ID and proof of domicile, age, and citizenship. (Please see the article in this issue of The Beacon about the new voting laws.) You may request curbside voting if you have mobility concerns.
Please be an informed voter and check the March Beacon for candidate statements and explanations of the Warrant articles. The Warrant Article on a Camping Ordinance is located on the Town website.
There will be three paper ballots: one for Town Officers, one for the School District, and one for Warrant Articles. You will be given three ballots and you must return three ballots.
Town Meeting will start shortly after the polls close. You will need to check in for Town Meeting; the check-in tables will open at 6:45 PM. Please plan accordingly.
Only registered voters in Andover may vote and speak at Town Meeting. You may attend Town Meeting if you are not a registered voter in Andover; however, if you would like to speak at the meeting, you will need to ask the Moderator, Jon Warzocha, for permission and he will ask the governing body, i.e., the registered voters present at the meeting, to vote to allow that to happen.
Please note: of course, you may write in any name you choose on the ballot in the space for write-ins. Ideally, if you are planning on writing in a person’s name, you have already communicated with them, and you know that they are willing to be a write-in candidate.
Recording and tallying the write-in names is the most time-consuming part of counting ballots, and slows down the reporting of the results. Please use your write-in vote wisely.
