South Danbury Church News — June

By Linda Wilson

DANBURY — Sunday worship at the South Danbury Church is at 11 AM. Everyone is invited, and all are welcome.

Thanks, caring thoughts, and well wishes for the future! The Beacon has been an excellent friend to the South Danbury Church, sharing our news and events with a far broader audience than we could ever have reached on our own. We’ll do our best to nurture and continue these connections, ever grateful that The Beacon brought them to us.

The Beacon, in print and online, and everyone at The Beacon making it possible, have certainly been a beacon for our shared community — one that is far wider than town lines on a map. You’ve been the glue that has made connections between people and places which couldn’t have happened without you, connections that for us in South Danbury have expanded our personal and physical and social and (yes!) intellectual horizons. As Thoreau said, “There is more light to dawn…” and we will be watching and hoping for yours, in whatever forms it might take.

Looking ahead, the New Hampshire Humanities Council has approved our request for historian and journalist Dan Billin — who recently presented “Last of the Granite State Rattlesnakes” at the church — to return on July 11 to present “Abolitionists of Noyes Academy.” Watch our Facebook page, Friends of the South Danbury Church, for current news and future events.

For church news, programs, events, and announcements of worship services, follow us on Facebook at Friends of the South Danbury Christian Church, watch for the outdoor sign at the church, call/text 603 744-8073, or email southdanburychurch@nullgmail.com. If you would like to be on our mailing list, send us an email. Please contact us if you need a ride to attend worship or events. We’ll be happy to help.

Thank you to everyone who supports and participates in South Danbury Church activities! We are especially grateful for your donations to the South Danbury Church Essential Home Goods Shelf at the Danbury Community Center. The (non-food) home goods collection began during Covid with a suggestion from Rev. Gail Kinney, and thanks to Kendra Braley, the DCC hosts it.

Personal care items are especially helpful. Contributions are always welcome and can be brought to the DCC or to church services and events.
