ANDOVER — The Andover Fourth of July Committee has been working diligently throughout the year to organize another memorable Independence Day celebration for the town, continuing a cherished local tradition that brings residents and visitors together in the spirit of community and patriotism.
The day will kick off with a hearty Pancake Breakfast, served from 7:30 to 10:30 AM, in the Andover Elementary/Middle School (AEMS) gymnasium. This popular event is a favorite among early risers and families eager to start the holiday with good food and good company.
Throughout the day, the Town Green will come alive with activity. A variety of vendors and food trucks will be on hand, offering local crafts, tasty treats, and refreshments. The Bow Junction Bluegrass Band will provide live music, adding a festive soundtrack to the day’s events.
Children’s games, offered free of charge, are expected to bring smiles and laughter to young attendees. Visitors are encouraged to stop by the Fourth of July Committee’s table to order this year’s commemorative Andover t-shirts, featuring a design of the town’s iconic covered bridge and loons flying overhead.
Raffle tickets for what’s being called the “best raffle in central New Hampshire” will also be available. Tickets can be purchased at the event or in advance by contacting Judy Perreault, at 603 735-5493.
One of the day’s most anticipated moments will take place around noon at the grandstand, where AE/MS seventh-grader Lydia Buteau will lead the Pledge of Allegiance and perform the National Anthem. Her performance will mark the official start of the town parade, which this year carries the theme “Sports in the USA.”
The parade promises to dazzle spectators with a vibrant mix of floats, marching bands, antique vehicles, and more. Participation in the parade is free, and cash prizes will be awarded to the most creative and spirited entries. Organizers kindly remind residents not to bring dogs to walk in the parade, as the hot pavement may harm their paws.
As the day winds down, the festivities will move to Carr Field, where families can enjoy refreshments, including Dole Whip and popcorn. Free glow sticks will be handed out to children ahead of the evening’s grand finale: a spectacular fireworks display at dusk.
Organizers emphasize that this long-standing celebration is made possible by the generosity of local donors. Contributions of any amount help sustain this beloved tradition and ensure its future.
Donations are truly at the heart of this event. The Fourth of July Committee is grateful for the ongoing support from our community and hope everyone comes out to celebrate with family and friends.
