ANDOVER — Dear Beacon Community,
It is with heavy hearts that we write to inform you that The Beacon will cease publication, effective June 2025. This is our last issue.
This decision did not come easily. For more than two decades, our team has worked tirelessly to keep the presses running, the stories flowing, and the community connected. We’ve covered local triumphs, challenges, milestones, and moments that matter – always with a deep sense of pride and responsibility.
Unfortunately, like many community newspapers across the country, we have faced mounting financial challenges. Declining advertising revenue, rising operational costs, and the shift to digital platforms have made it increasingly difficult to sustain our work. Despite our best efforts, the resources required to continue publishing simply aren’t available.
We want to express our deepest gratitude to you – our readers, advertisers, contributors, and supporters. You welcomed us into your homes, trusted us to tell your stories, and stood by us through the years. It has been an honor and a privilege to serve this community.
Over 20 years ago, Charlie Darling started The Andover Beacon to fill a gap in our community. His hard work and dedication brought The Beacon to every mailbox in Andover, keeping the community informed and entertained, and the past and present Boards of Directors are proud to have had the opportunity to continue that legacy.
Though our pages may no longer be printed, the spirit of The Beacon lives on – in the conversations we’ve sparked, the truths we’ve shared, and the connections we’ve helped build. Thank you for letting us be a part of your lives.
Sincerely,
The Beacon Board of Directors
