On the first Friday of each month, the Lake Sunapee Region Center for the Arts (CFA) hosts a series of free arts programs for the community including gallery openings and receptions, classical and folk music nights, literary and poetry nights, and theatre nights. All First Friday events are free and open to the public.
On Friday, December 7, from 5 to 7 PM, all ages are invited to join in at the Mary Haddad Bandstand, on the New London Town Green, as we sing Carols and other Winter Classics. The Community Band, led by Aarne Vesiland, will accompany the group with a variety of songs, and hot chocolate will be served immediately following on the porch of the New London Inn. A new winter tradition begins! Dress warmly, and bring your voices.
On Friday, January 4, from 5 to 7 PM, it’s Music Night with Folk Fusion at the Follansbee Inn in North Sutton. Folk Fusion members Susan Cancio-Bello, Laurie Reeder, and Nicole Densmore combine tight vocal harmonies with the rich accompaniment of acoustic guitar, keyboard, flute, and percussion on traditional and contemporary folk and light rock tunes. Add a sprinkling of the Indigo Girls, Paul Simon, and Celtic ballads, and you have a satisfying sound that delights the ear and soothes the soul. Come and enjoy this popular trio!
On Friday, February 1, it’s Gallery Night, an evening to see great art and meet the artists. Each CFA Micro Gallery hosts receptions from 4 to 7 PM to open their new exhibits displaying a variety of artistic styles. Walk from gallery to gallery to see exceptional regional artists at the Micro Galleries located in the Millstone Restaurant, the New London Inn, ZeroCelsius Wealth Studio, and Country Houses Real Estate, and other fine galleries in New London, too.
