Richard Eugene Silva, 82, of Medway, Massachusetts and formerly of Lowell, died on May 28 after a brief illness.
Richard was born in Lowell on April 17, 1931, to Manual and Margaret (nee Bettencourt) Silva. Richard graduated from Lowell High School where he was a Boy Officer in the Junior ROTC program. He worked for his father’s company, Manual Silva Painting and Paperhanging, before joining the US Air Force. Richard was stationed in Korea and served as a Communication Specialist during the Korean War.
Following his military service, he worked for Silva Brothers and Painters. He later worked as a Project Manager for Carlson Corporation of Cochituate, Massachusetts.
Richard lived in the Lowell Highlands and was a communicant of Saint Margaret’s Parish before moving to Medway. In addition to his family, Richard enjoyed hunting and weaponry and was a member of the Milford Gun Club and the NRA. He was an accomplished piano player and enjoyed gardening and pool maintenance.
In addition to his loving wife, Yvette (Lambert) Silva, Richard is survived by his three children and two of their spouses, Valerie (Silva) DeAngelis and her husband, Armando, of Stoneham, Massachusetts; Pamela Silva of Lowell; and Richard Silva and his wife, Sharon (Vigneaux) Silva, of Woonsocket, Rhode Island. He also leaves three grandchildren, Marc DeAngelis of Stoneham, and Cameron and Anthony Chace of Woonsocket; several siblings, Eileen (Silva) Mackey of Andover, New Hampshire; Edward Silva of Cincinnati, Ohio; Sharon (Silva) Gouveia of Belmont, Massachusetts; and Robert Silva of Arlington, Virginia; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his former wife, Barbara (Leavitt) Silva of Lowell.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral Mass on Saturday, June 8, at Saint Brendan Church, 382 Hartford Avenue in Bellingham, Massachusetts, at 10 AM. Richard will be laid to rest at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne at a later date.
