The Andover Lions Club food pantry continues to serve many folks in need and is a valuable resource in the community. We, as well as those that depend upon it, appreciate the support. The need never lessens, and it is our goal to continue to meet that need with the help of the community.

We just printed out our 2013 annual calendar raffle tickets. We hope to sell these at the Fourth of July activities as well as at local businesses and through our membership.

The Andover Lions Club awarded three scholarships to deserving college-bound high school students. The recipients are Madison Powers and Marissa Laro from Andover, and Sara Vassy from Danbury. Our congratulations go out to all of the winners.

Our Installation Dinner was held on June 10 at Alan’s Restaurant in Boscawen. We presented the Granite State Fellow Award for outstanding contribution to the community to Andover’s fire chief Rene Lefebvre and to Andover Lion Judy Evans. They will be riding in the Concord Coach during the Fourth of July parade.

The President’s award for outstanding support to the club will be presented to Ellie George on June 24. She has been instrumental in the success of the food pantry.

Our new slate of officers is as follows: President – Bill Egge, First Vice President – Dan Coolidge, Second Vice President -Bill Kennedy, Secretary/Treasurer – Joyce Egge, Membership Chair – Howard George , Directors – Skip Powers, Don Kaplan, and Jim Danforth (who is also the Immediate Past President).

The Andover Lions Club has several fundraising events during the year in order to be able to help finance the scholarships, food pantry, and other community projects. Don’t forget to come to our Pancake Breakfast on the Fourth of July from 7 to 10 AM at the Andover Elementary/Middle School. Later in the morning we will be firing up the fryers for food on the Village Green.

As always, we welcome new members to our club; Linda Kennedy and Laura Danforth have become our newest members, and we look forward to working with them.
