The Wilmot Farmers Market opened its 2013 season Saturday, June 22, on the Wilmot Town Green on Kearsarge Valley Road with a new food vendor, a lineup of popular musicians, and an eclectic mix of art, agriculture, science, and entertainment in the education tent. The highlight of the month will be Children’s Day on July 20 when the green will be alive with activity for the young ones: fire fighting vehicles, games, face painting, live frogs, and more.
Andover vendors this year include Kat Darling of Two Mountain Farm, Amy Fecteau, and Mary Lloyd Evans and Peter Zak of Highland Lake Apple Farm.
Providing music on alternate weeks will be Richard King, Mark Aldrich, Folk Fusion, Deanna Stiles, Mike Cressy, and the Fondtones.
In addition to the many returning vendors, several new faces bring the total to 17 full-time and nine part-time businesses offering a wide variety of produce (some organic), meat, dairy, wool, plants, and several types of handcrafted items. For a full list of vendors, musicians, and guests at the education tent, please visit WilmotFarmersMarket.com.
July’s education tent will feature: Margaret Hoyle with her antique sock-knitting machine on Saturday, July 6; Leslie Tuttle demonstrating the art of digital photography on Saturday, July 13; Lindy Heim with frogs from her frog pond on Saturday, July 20; and artists demonstrating their media from the WCA Art Show on Saturday, July 27.
The education tent will also host the new WOW (Window on Wilmot) information center. All Wilmot non-profit organizations are invited to share their big event calendar items. The goal is to have one central place to access information. The calendar may be found on the Wilmot Community Association Web site on the calendar page.
The Wilmot Farmers Market is open every Saturday, rain or shine, 9 AM–noon from June 22 to September 28. If you have any questions, contact Mary Lloyd-Evans at MLloydEvans@nullgmail.com or 735-5058 or visit WilmotFarmersMarket.com.
