Please join the Andover Conservation Commission on Monday, August 19, at 10:30 AM at the Blackwater Junction Restaurant on Route 11 in Cilleyville to learn more about the various types of wildlife supported by and attracted to boggy and swampy areas of our town.
Emma Carfagno, Wildlife Program Assistant from the UNH Cooperative Extension, will lead us in a talk and discussion regarding what we might find in a typical environment such as Bog Pond. After the talk, Emma will lead attendees on a short walking tour of nearby Bog Pond, one of the town’s highest-rated areas for wildlife habitat.
Both the talk and the walk are free and open to the public. Water-resistant footwear is suggested.
Emma has been at the UNH Cooperative Extension since 2007, after completing her Masters Degree in Wildlife Ecology at UNH. In her current position, she provides assistance to private landowners interested in managing their land with wildlife in mind. She previously worked with the US Forest Service in Alaska, the New Hampshire Department of Natural Resources, and the Southeast Land Trust of New Hampshire.
This event is sponsored by the Andover Conservation Commission and is part of the summer’s program called Taking Action for Wildlife. The goal is to make landowners aware of how they can make their properties more attractive to wildlife and why such action is important. For more information, contact Nan Kaplan at 735-5352.
