The community is invited to the Lake Sunapee Region Center for the Arts (CFA) “First Fridays” program on Friday, September 6, from 5 to 7 PM. This music night welcomes pianist and composer William Ögmundson, who is jointly sponsored by CFA and Summer Music Associates. This concert will be held at the Knowlton House in Sunapee Harbor. All CFA events are free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.
William Ögmundson is well known throughout New England and is generally acknowledged to be one of the finest pianists in the area. He has built a career around piano performance while also making a name for himself as a composer and lyricist. He began performing at the age of five and went on to win numerous piano competitions through his school years.
In addition to regular performances in New England, William has also performed at venues throughout Europe. Of these, the most notable have been the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris and St. Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican, where he was honored to have been the organist for a Sunday morning mass. In recent years, William has gained a reputation as a brilliant composer, having written the music for five productions of the North East Shakespeare Ensemble. More recently, William (along with Tom Dunn) adapted the story of The Night of Las Posadas by Tomie dePaola into a Christmas musical.
His performance at the Knowlton House will include a Mozart sonata, Preludes by Ögmundson in the style of Chopin, as well as Scott Joplin’s The Entertainer.
All First Fridays are free and open to the public. On the first friday of each month, CFA hosts a series of free arts programs for the community, including gallery openings and receptions, classical and folk music nights, literary and poetry nights, as well as theater nights. Working with their business partners in the community, CFA continues to showcase local and regional talent in the Lake Sunapee area for the benefit of the artists, performers, residents, and visitors to our beautiful region.
