Workshop Explores Creating New Fields, Using Old Fields

Join the Ausbon Sargent Land Preservation Trust for a workshop about creating new fields and using old fields for agriculture and for wildlife habitat. At this workshop, you’ll learn from a number of knowledgeable presenters about important soils, forest conversion, funding, fencing, irrigation, leases, nutrient management, and water resource protection.

Presenters include Dot Perkins, Food & Agriculture Educator, UNH Cooperative Extension; Emma Carcagno, Wildlife Program Assistant, UNH Cooperative Extension, and Mike Lynch, Resource Conservationist, Natural Resources Conservation Service. Farmers are Bob Bower, Kearsarge Gore Farm; and Larry Pletcher, The Vegetable Ranch.

The program runs from 8:30 AM to 1 PM on Saturday, October 19 at the Mount Kearsarge Indian Museum in Warner and includes an indoor presentation, visits to working farms, and light refreshments. Cost is $5 per person, and pre-registration is required by Wednesday, October 16.
