The Wilmot Historical Society (WHS) will hold its annual meeting and program at 1 PM on Sunday, October 27 at the historic Wilmot Town Hall in Wilmot Center on North Wilmot Road off Route 4A next to the Wilmot Public Library. A short meeting will take place prior to the program, during which the election of officers and other society business will be conducted.

The newly-restored stage curtains at the Town Hall will be the focus of the program presented by the expert from Curtains Without Borders of Vermont who completed the painstaking work this spring. (Curtains Without Borders will also make a presentation in Danbury that evening; details here.) Funding for the screen’s restoration and replacement of the side curtains was provided by grant monies awarded to the WHS and the Town of Wilmot by the 2012 Moose Plate Program. Labor to make the new side curtains was donated by Connie Jordan of Connie’s Classic Coverups in Wilmot.

Also on display will be the incredibly detailed early 20th century farmhouse model donated by Kay Butler and her family. It too has been restored back to its former glory, this time by Wilmot resident and woodworker Ed Weaver.

Prior to his death last Winter, former Wilmot resident George Gove contributed to the research of the model project. Video, pictorial, and personal histories relating to the historic Wilmot farmhouse will be presented by the WHS and Ed Weaver.

Light refreshments will be served. The event is being offered at no charge and is open to the general public. For more information, contact Marc at 927-4596 or MarcSDavis@nulltds.net.
