Blackwater Park benefited from a couple of hours of community service from the 12 members of the Proctor Academy JV2 Boys Soccer Team on October 15. Their labors helped to remove a build-up of several years’ worth of winter sand and weeds from under the wooden guardrail on Lawrence Street over the rail trail near Blackwater Park. The presence of the sand forces stormwater to flow into the playground or causes washouts along the edges of the park’s driveway. The soccer team members are from five New England states and North Carolina, as well as Vietnam and China. “Thank you!” goes to Jared, Max, Drew, Jacob, James, Liam, Lucas, Pablo, Daniel, Luke, Quoc Anh, Khanh, and Nick. Hometown student Carl Hubbard is team captain. Thanks also go to coaches Gregor Makechnie and Jon Beard, and to Andover Recreation Committee member Howard George and his loader.
