On October 18, select members of our AE/MS Advanced Band attended the final home football game of the season at MVHS. Our students spent time with the MVHS Marching Band, watching the practice before the game, marching to the field with the band, and sitting with band members in the stands. Our students enjoyed firsthand the excitement that being a part of a marching band entails.

While sitting with the band during the first half, they got a feel for what it’s like to be a part of a pep band, reacting to every play on the field and being a part of the experience. At half-time, they watched how diligently the band members prepared for the half-time show, practicing certain cadences and preparing to deal with the phasing they would face on the field.

Finally, our students had a chance to see the completed half-time show and all of the hard work and execution that goes into putting on a first class marching band performance.

I would like to thank Mrs. Slayton, Mrs. Turk, Mrs. Parenteau, and everyone else who made such a wonderful evening possible for our band students!
