The community’s great response to the Beacon’s fall canvassing campaign allows us to take a huge step toward ensuring that the Beacon will be sustainable into the future. The Board of Directors has directed me to hire a paid, permanent part-time Web and Print Production Specialist in order to reduce the number of hours I have to put in every month – the first step toward being sure that when the time comes, we’ll be able to find someone willing to step into my position.
I hear you asking, “So what’s a Web and Print Production Specialist?” In a nutshell, the job is to prepare ads, photos, and articles to appear in print and on the Web site. The articles and photos – and many of the ads – will have been created by others. The new specialist’s job will be to work them through our rather elaborate computer processes to get them ready to appear in print and on the Web site.
At AndoverBeacon.com/Hire you’ll find a detailed job description and a description of what we’re looking for in candidates for the position. (It’s long, so I didn’t put it in the paper.)
If you read it, you’ll notice right away that we’re not worrying a lot about what skills a candidate has – we’re used to teaching people new computer skills! What we’re really focusing on is the personal qualities that a candidate would bring to the team – qualities like organization, motivation, reliability, maturity, and many other qualities that we need in a new team member.
Can You Help?
Do you know someone who’s comfortable using computers professionally and is looking for a permanent part-time position? Would they make a great team member and help us meet some very challenging goals every month? If so, please show them this article or send them a link to the job description I mentioned above. If they like what they see, I hope they’ll send me their resume.
