The Harlem Wizards are coming to Merrimack Valley High School on Wednesday, February 5, at 7 PM to play in a trick basketball game with teachers from local schools. Teachers from Boscawen, Penacook, Webster, Salisbury, and Loudon, as well as Andover Elementary/Middle Schools own athletic director, Jim Tucker, will play in the game.
Beyond the basketball court, the slam dunks, the fancy ball handling, and entertaining antics of the Harlem Wizards, there will be a meaningful outpouring of community support for a teenager who is battling cancer. All proceeds from the game will benefit the family of Haley Roy, a 16-year-old sophomore at Merrimack Valley High School who was recently diagnosed with lymphoma. The proceeds will help assist the family financially, as hospital bills, weekly travels to Boston, overnight stays during chemo treatments in Boston, and unpaid time off from work are all beginning to take their toll on this amazingly strong family.
The Harlem Wizards have a unique mission: to create awe-inspiring events throughout the country. At a Harlem Wizard’s game, fans will witness amazing basketball talent combined with hilarious comedy. It is a unique family event, where students, parents, teachers and the community can all laugh together.
The game includes an audience participation half-time show and a free autograph session at the end of the game. Harlem Wizard souvenirs and refreshments will be sold. Tickets are $10 for students and $12 for adults in advance, and will be $2 additional at the door. Buy tickets at Alan’s Restaurant, Capital Sporting Goods, or online at HarlemWizards.com.
