My name is Mary Anne Levesque, and I’m a candidate for Selectman. It has been my pleasure and privilege to live in East Andover for the past 14 years and to enjoy not just the idyllic surroundings and wonderful people, but also the directly democratic form of government that makes life in a New Hampshire town so unique. I have consistently come to Town meetings, and likely many of you will know my voice.
Since I arrived in Andover, I have tried to contribute to the town in my own small ways. I have served as a Cemetery Trustee for four years and have served on the Budget Committee for two years. My time on the Budget Committee has given me a solid understanding of the functions and needs of the town government that I will bring to bear on the office of Selectman.
By way of background, I have an Associate’s Degree in electronics and I’ve worked as an electronics technician. I’ve also been a line cook and an 18-wheel truck driver. Currently, I’m a technician working for the gas company.
I know what it’s like to make ends meet financially. I know the difference between a want and a need when it’s hard to make ends meet – I think the Town needs to know this, too. When the Town spends excessively, taxes go up, and folks are having a hard enough time already. I am a hard worker, and I hope you’ll give me the chance to work for you.
