2014’s calendar is entitled “Potter Place Then and Now,” with new and archival photographs of the village that grew up around the railroad station, now the Andover Historical Society’s museum. Copies are still available.
Folks at the August Old Time Fair enjoyed magician Andrew Pinard, the Ragged Mountain Band, and traditional events: flea market, auction, farmers market, vendors, demonstrators, rides on the pumper car, food, and games for children.
Steve Taylor spoke at our public June meeting about one-room schoolhouses. The October dessert social featured Sarah Shea Smith who gave a fascinating presentation about the New Hampshire women who salvaged huge amounts of downed timber after the 1938 hurricane.
Luan Clark joined as Curator, and Larry Chase and Dane Loomer joined the Board of Trustees.
A work team repaired/replaced the windows at the Tucker Mountain School. Arch Weathers glazed new frames using the glass from the original windows. Brad Hartwell installed the windows and new sills. Daryl Baker underwrote much of the cost. It was a very significant effort, and our thanks go to all involved.
We are grateful for all the community support we received in 2013, and look forward to another good year. We rely solely on interested volunteers to continue the preservation of Andover’s history. If you have time to give, please think of us. Contact Pat Cutter at 735-5268.
