Ten Kearsarge area sugar houses, including Tucker Mountain Maple in East Andover, are again joining forces to offer a fun-filled Maple Weekend for visitors on March 22 and 23. From sap gathering to boiling demonstrations and free samples of the final product, these maple producers are ready to help cure those with cabin fever.
Visitors can tour a maple orchard and see how sap is collected, learn the history behind maple sugaring, and enjoy some maple treats. Make the rounds of several sugar houses, and see how producers use different techniques and equipment. The hours are 10 AM to 4 PM, and admission is free!
Recent research reveals that pure maple syrup is loaded with vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, making it a genuine “spring tonic.” Minerals in the soil help contribute to the flavor and nutrition in maple syrup, and the soils around Mount Kearsarge produce some of the tastiest and most nutritious maple syrup in the state.
Besides Tucker Mountain Maple in East Andover, these Warner sugar houses will be open on Maple Weekend: Baker’s Syrup at 611 Newmarket Road; Bates Maple Syrup at 6 Collins Road.; Beaver Meadowbrook Farm at 402 Route 103 East; Courser Farm at 427 Schoodac Road; Kearsarge Gore Farm at 173 Gore Road; Rogers Maple Syrup at 133 Couchtown Road, and Zock’s Maple Brook Farm at 98 Birch Hill Road.
Webster sugar houses participating are: Hi/Lo Farm at 266 Pond Hill Road; Kimball’s Sugar House at 390 White Plains Road, and Turyn’s Tap’n & Sap’n at 11 Clough-Sanborn Road.
