SpringFest weekend at Mount Sunapee Resort, on Saturday and Sunday, April 5 and 6, combines some great spring skiing and riding with two of Mount Sunapee’s most popular spring events and the music of singer/songwriter KT Tunstall. The lineup includes the 16th annual Slush Cup on Saturday, an Acoustical Evening with KT Tunstall in Sunapee Lodge and the 23rd annual Intragalactic Cardboard Sled Race on Sunday.
On Saturday evening, Scottish singer/songwriter KT Tunstall will perform in the Sunapee Lodge. Notable songs by KT are Suddenly I See, which was used in the opening credits of the movie The Devil Wears Prada, and Black Horse and The Cherry Tree. Her newest album, Invisible Empire/Crescent Moon was released in 2013.
Opening for KT Tunstall will be up-and-coming singer/songwriter Brooks Hubbard from Enfield, New Hampshire. Brooks has opened for the Robert Cray Band, Stephen Kellogg, and Josh Wilson. The sound system for this acoustical performance will be provided by BOSE and will be audio mapped specifically for Sunapee Lodge.
On Saturday, April 5, it’s the 16th annual Slush Cup, one of New England’s premier pond skimming events. Two hundred skiers and snowboarders will try to negotiate an 85-foot pond filled with 36-degree water in one of Mount Sunapee’s most popular spring events. There are prizes for best costume, best skim, best splash, and best team costume. Five dollars of every entry fee goes to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of New Hampshire.
On Sunday, April 6, Mount Sunapee is hosting the 23rd annual Intragalactic Cardboard Sled Race. Teams of three will race intricate and professionally designed cardboard sleds down Eggbeater trail. There are prizes for best design, fastest sled, and best self-destruction while on the race course. Entry fees are donated to David’s House in Lebanon, New Hampshire.
The Acoustical Evening with KT Tunstall is sponsored by KRU Vodka, Lexington Bourbon, Nordica, Tecnica, Blizzard, BOSE, and Ben and Jerry’s. Concert tickets are $25 and can be purchased online or at Guest Services at the resort.
