Andover Annual School District Meeting is March 1st at 7:00 pm. This is the Tuesday we return from vacation. This is a very important meeting for our school as the budget for 2016-17 is discussed and voted upon. You must be present to vote. Babysitting is being provided in the middle school wing. Teachers are showing age appropriate videos and providing board games. Children are welcome to make it a pajama night and spend time with their friends while the adults are in the gym at the meeting. Babysitting will be provided until the meeting ends. Those attending School District Meeting will get a sneak peek at Seussical the Musical. The set will be displayed and the cast will sing the opening song at the start of the meeting.

I am very excited about our upcoming drama production and can’t wait until the end of March! The Andover Players will present Seussical the Musical on March 24th and 25th. The AEMS gym will be closed all of February vacation week while sets are being built and painted for the play.

The Andover Conservation Commission and the Andover Fish and Game Club generously send students to a 4H camp in the summer. The Fish and Game Club has been doing this for years and last year the Andover Conservation Commission has joined this effort. Camp slots are already filling up. Please visit the camp link and see if it is something that your child might be interested in. Some of the camps have only a couple of available slots. Each camp has specific requirements. Go to extension.unh.edu/4-H-Youth-Family/Barry-Conservation-4-H-Camp and click on “camp schedule and brochure.” If interested, please contact Larry Chase at  lbchase@nullaol.com.

Attached is a copy of a letter that was sent home with 3rd grade students last week. The letter is in regard to KIK messaging. It is very important for parents to know about KIK and to know how your child is using social media. I thought Mrs. Lane’s letter was important for all parents to see. It is a growing problem and we are seeing KIK issues overflow into the school day.

The art work displayed throughout the building is constantly changing. Be sure and take the time to admire and enjoy it. The students have done some amazing art work. Speaking of art work, the following can be picked up when you are in the building next:

2nd and 3rd snowmen

4th snow globes

5th tree houses

6th, 7th, and 8th self-portraits

6th leaf mandalas

Tomorrow is the last Ski and Skate day. Encourage your children to thank the volunteers responsible for making these opportunities possible for our students.

Our emergency notification system, One Call Now, reaches all our families through email and phone. If you wish to receive AEMS emergency messages as a text message please text the word ALERT to 22300. This is not a feature we automatically establish for families because some families have calling plans that charge for incoming texts.

Eighth grade parents – There is an Information Night at Merrimack Valley High School at 6:00pm on Wednesday, February 17th. It is for all incoming freshman and their parents. Also, please send in photos for the yearbook and graduation slide show. We need a recent photo and a baby photo for the yearbook. The photo should capture the personality of your child. 3-4 photos are needed for the graduation slide show. Thanks!

You don’t want to miss the EAVP’s spaghetti dinner and raffle on February 20th! Information is attached. Lots of great items have been donated for the raffle. You can attend the dinner, or the dinner and the raffle, or just the raffle. What a great way to kick off vacation week!

Kindness Club meets on Monday, February 15th. The Cooking Club has their final meeting on Wednesday, February 17th.

Want to catch a Manchester Monarchs game? They have plenty of games still on their schedule. Bring in Box Tops on or before next Thursday and go into vacation with Monarchs tickets. And more money will go into our playground fund.

Happy Valentines Day!
