Longtime member of Andover Lions Club

people - deaths - 160528 duganJames Dugan, 81, of Danbury died on May 28, 2016. Born in Marblehead, Massachusetts on April 3, 1935, James was the son of the late George and Margaret (Holmes) Dugan. Jim lived in Marblehead for many years before moving to Danbury in 1975.

Jim was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps and a longtime member of the Andover Lions Club. He was a plumber/steamfitter by trade.

Jim loved his farmhouse in Danbury and spent countless hours tending his one-acre vegetable garden. He was a devoted husband and beloved father and grandfather.

Members of his family include his three children: Linda Rosenthall and her husband Gene of Sutton, James Dugan, Jr. and his wife Carleen of El Dorado Hills, California, and Carolyn O’Brien and her husband Scott of Concord; his grandchildren: Rachel, Liam, Colin, Caleb, and Cassidy; his sister, Mary McKenney; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by Ann, his wife of 52 years, and his brother George.

 

Jim was a communicant of Immaculate Conception Church in Potter Place.

A memorial gathering was held on June 6 at Bennett Funeral Home in Concord. A celebration of life followed in the funeral home chapel.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, 480 Pleasant Street, Watertown MA 02472; or to CRVNA Hospice House, 30 Pillsbury Street, Concord NH 03301 in memory of Jim Dugan.
