Andover Lions Club Membership Drive

By John Hanscom, President Andover Lions Club

Lions Club International, the world’s largest service club organization with more than 1.35 million members, is celebrating their Centennial. For 100 years the Lions have been fighting blindness, caring for the environment, suppressing hunger, aiding seniors and the disabled, serving local organizations and charities, and providing educational programs and scholarships.

The Andover Lions Club has been providing like services for more than sixty years while serving the towns of Andover, Salisbury, Danbury, and Wilmot.

In offering continued support to the local communities, the local Lions hold or participate in more than a dozen fundraisers and programs annually benefiting young and old alike. Over the last twelve months alone, we have raised well over $10,000, which has been used to screen more than five hundred children for sight and hearing defects, offer scholarships to graduating seniors, donate to local and state organizations and charities, support youth education and programs, and assist local food banks.

All of this takes volunteer man hours. To help improve our service to the community, we are looking for new members. If you would like to share the feeling of pride and satisfaction by giving a part of yourself to help the people around you, we offer you that opportunity.

We plan, promote, and participate in numerous diversified projects throughout the year to meet these goals. Our members meet twice a month for a social hour and business meeting on the second and fourth Monday of each month. We invite you to join us.
