Culvert Assessments in Andover in October and November

Merrimack County Conservation District interns Steve Cook and Mariah Mitchell are part of a team you may see measuring your culverts in October and November. With the support of the Andover Conservation Commission, the Merrimack County Conservation District received funds to assist Andover in culvert assessments. Using the protocols developed by NH Departments of Transportation and Environmental Services, MCCD will be assessing culverts to be included in the State of NH’s stream crossing database. This database will be used to help identify all of the culverts and prioritize ones in need of repair. Along with the stream crossing data needed, MCCD will also be assessing some of the water quality indicators. This project was funded by the NH Charitable Foundation. MCCD hopes to expand this project into more programs related to stream crossings into the future after culverts are assessed. If you have any questions, please contact MCCD at 223-6020.
