Pay a visit to the Kearsarge Region Electric Vehicle Expo in New London on Sunday, September 9, and the experience, according to its organizers, could free you from the gas pump forever.
To be held on the grounds of the New London Historical Society at 179 Little Sunapee Road between noon and 4 PM, this year’s EV Expo will feature the latest in electric automobiles, bicycles, motorcycles, lawnmowers, chainsaws, and more. Admission is free, as are refreshments, and a free raffle ticket if you’re pre-registered at UVEVEXPO.COM. Additional raffle tickets will be on sale at the event. Raffle grand prize is a kids’ Tesla Model S worth $500.
In addition to test rides of all-electric Teslas and Chevrolets offered by private car owners, there will be Pedego electric bicycles and a Zero Motorcycle to view and/or demo. Expo visitors can also view exhibits and attend presentations on such topics as electric vehicle charging options, rooftop solar panel installation, and backup storage batteries to take the place of a gas or diesel generator. A complete schedule of events and list of participating exhibitors will be posted at UVEVEXPO.COM closer to event day. For more information, call 802-291-3939 or email WhyPumpGas@nullgmail.com.
The event is being organized by the New London Energy Committee and Kearsarge Climate Action, with support from sponsors including Cyclewise, Village Sports, Energy Emporium, Norwich Solar Technologies, Sol-Air, Solaflect Energy, SunCommon, Better Homes & Gardens Milestone Team, Clarke’s Hardware, Coldwell Banker Lifestyles, Echo Communications, Flying Goose Brewpub, Four Seasons Sotheby’s Intl. Realty, Old Hampshire Designs, Kearsarge Area Chamber of Commerce, and Unleashed. The organizers are grateful to the New London Historical Society for hosting the expo at the picturesque New London Historical Village.
The New London event is part of National Drive Electric Week organized by Plug In America, Sierra Club and the Electric Auto Association.  Last year’s Expo, held in White River Junction, Vermont, drew 600 visitors, more than 40 electric vehicles and dozens of sponsors.
