Andover Hub Crafts Closet Opens

Saturday, October 27th

Press Release

After months of collecting, sorting and organizing donations, the Hub Closet is now ready to open to the public. Join us Saturday, October 27, from 10 a.m. to noon at The Andover Hub (next to Pizza Chef) to shop for supplies or drop off donations or a bit of both. There will also be snacks as well as a simple craft project for kids.

The Hub Closet is a new endeavor at The Hub: a place to collect, create and convert. It is a non-traditional art, craft and office supply store where you never know what you may find, based on the concept of creative-reuse centers located around the country such as SCRAP, Tinkertopia, and Scraptivity.

The goal for the Hub Closet is to provide a place for storing community excess and then making it available, at a very low cost, to those who can use it creatively.  We want to prevent items from ending up in the landfill while simultaneously providing affordable supplies to the community and to local teachers. Parents will find popsicle sticks and beads for their preschooler to create sculptures.  Students can find materials for their school projects. Crafters will discover both wine corks and scrap wood pieces to create a one of a kind bulletin board. We hope the Hub Closet will be a place that inspires “upcycling.”

While the Hub Closet is off to a good start on supplies, we will always be collecting new supplies to add to the inventory. Current needs are gently used or new offices supplies (paper clips, 3 ring binders, etc.), any type of paper, sewing notions, and fabric larger than 1 yard. We currently cannot accept any more donations of yarn.  If you are interested in donating materials to the Hub Closet and would like a list of the items we will accept, if you have any questions about the grand opening or would like to volunteer to staff the Hub Closet on Saturday mornings, please contact Tina Nussbaum Wagler at hubcloset@nullgmail.com.
