‘First Friday Film Series’ Launches at Andover Hub

Begins Friday, December 7

The First Friday Fun Film Society makes its official debut at The Andover Hub on Friday, December 7 at 2:30 p.m. with a showing of the 2018 movie, “Crazy Rich Asians.”  All are welcome, free of charge.
Friday afternoon movie showings began informally several months ago and have now become a regular event at The Hub.  Earlier movies included “Mamma Mia!” (the original), “The Book Club” and “Going in Style.” The idea for a movie series originally came from Sarah Hardy, with the intent that the movies be “somewhat light and fun, nothing too serious, and with a broad appeal.”  Volunteers take turns providing light refreshments and attendees are asked to suggest future showings, whether classics, “oldies” or current films.
“Crazy Rich Asians” is a retelling of the familiar story of a man in possession of a fortune now being in need of an appropriate wife.  This version focuses on the eligible bachelor son of a wealthy Singapore family, now living in New York, and the disapproving scrutiny his Asian-American girlfriend of more modest means faces from the older generation back home.  Viewers will be glad to know that free choice and true love triumph in the end.
