Fresh Local Produce, Flash-Frozen at AE/MS

County provides produce and a flash-freeze unit

Thanks to the enthusiasm and dedication of AE/MS staff, students can now enjoy healthy local produce year round. Through its “gleaning” program, Merrimack County Conservation District (MCCD) is providing the school with fresh fruits and vegetables from area farms (most recently from Two Mountain Farm in Andover) along with a flash-freeze unit. This unit allows the immediate freezing of fresh fruits and vegetables, taking only a matter of minutes. The frozen produce can then be stored for later use, especially during those long winter months. Checking out the flash-freeze unit are MCCD local food coordinator Alyssa Lemmermann, AE/MS secretary Gail Parenteau, AEMS principal Jane Slayton, and MCCD district manager Stacy Luke.
