Elizabeth H. Frew, July 20, 2014

Elizabeth H. (Hosmer) Frew, 84, of Boscawen passed away peacefully on July 20, 2014, surrounded by her three sons at the Concord Hospital after a prolonged period of declining health. Betty lived on Queen Street for 62 years and had resided at the Merrimack County Nursing Home for the past year.

She was born in New London on August 13, 1929, the daughter of George H. and Margaret F. (Davis) Hosmer Sr. Mrs. Frew graduated from Andover High School in 1947 and then from Concord Commercial College. She worked as a bookkeeper for Merrimack Farmers Exchange for several years.

For 26 years she was an auditor and bookkeeper for the State of New Hampshire Treasury/Retirement Department. In 1996, Betty retired after six years with the Merrimack Valley School District food services department.

She was a member of The Order of The Eastern Star for over 50 years, Concord Emblem Club, East Concord Garden Club, and Penacook Senior Center. Generous with her time, she volunteered at the Merrimack County Nursing Home and Penacook Senior Center. Betty enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, gardening, and doing puzzles.

Her husband of 44 years, Arthur O. Frew Jr., died in 1996. She was also predeceased by her brother, George H. Hosmer Jr.

Members of her family surviving include three sons and their wives, Jerry and Joan Frew of Concord, Kevin and Pat Frew of Boscawen and Stacy and Dawn Frew of Epsom; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a sister, Patricia Powell of Port Charlotte, Florida; a brother and his wife, Charles E. and Veda Hosmer of Newbury; and nieces and nephews.

In honoring her wishes, there will be no calling hours, and a private family graveside service will be held at a later date in Maplewood Cemetery, Salisbury.
