Andover Energy Group Brings “Chasing Ice” Documentary to Town

Capturing years of melting ice in minutes

Press release

Chasing Ice, a widely acclaimed 2012 film capturing dramatic evidence of climate change, will be shown in the Andover Barn at the Highland Lake Inn in East Andover beginning at 7 PM on Monday, August 8. Sponsored by the Andover Energy Group, the showing is free and open to the public. Attendees are invited to bring their own portable chairs to ensure adequate seating for all.

The 75-minute film follows a team of environmental photographers as they battle technical problems, camera malfunctions, and health issues above the Arctic Circle in order to capture, via time-lapse photography, the impact of global warming on the polar ice cap. Winner of over 30 awards around the world, the film “compresses years into seconds and captures ancient mountains of ice in motion as they disappear at a breathtaking rate,” according to a review.

The Highland Lake Inn is located at the corner of Maple Street and Tucker Mountain Road in East Andover. The Andover Energy Group is a voluntary organization dedicated to helping local property owners learn more about alternative energy sources and energy efficiency measures. It has helped to encourage about 30 alternative energy installations (solar, geothermal) in Andover in its five years of existence.
