The Wilmot Community Association (WCA) is again hosting a fall concert series. Ed for a Day will play on Saturday, November 19. The free concert will begin at 7 PM at the Association’s Red Barn, 64 Village Road in Wilmot.

Ed for a Day formed in 2003 after a bunch of friends compared their top ten favorite bands. After discovering that each list included U2, REM, The Police, The Pixies, and Neil Diamond, they knew that they had to form a band! Today, Ed for a Day includes Neal Byles on lead vocals, guitars, mandolin and mandocello, David Wartski vocals and bass, Walt Cammack on drums and percussion, and part-time member Thelastris Durand on vocals and guitar.

Ed for a Day likes to describe their music as “industrial folk,” mostly because it sounds cool. They play a combination of original songs and covers from a broad range of musical styles, with a general focus on 80’s and 90’s alternative and grunge.

“So far, the concert series has been a great success,” said Nancy Large, president of the WCA board of directors. Each fall, the WC looks for an interesting mix of musicians to host. The series started out classical with The Lake Sunapee Area Flute Choir in September and then moved on to blues and jazz with Bob McCarthy in October. “Ed for a Day promised a lively and family-friendly end to this year’s fall series,” said Large. “We encourage everyone to stop by for the concert.”

The WCA owns and operates the Red Barn, a community center at 64 Village Road, and Timothy Patten Park, a beach and playground on Shindagan Road. To learn more, visit the WCA Web site at wilmotcommunityassociation.org or follow the WCA on Facebook and Twitter.
