Through the Reading Glasses, June 2017

By Janet Moore, Library Trustee

It’s never too early to plan for celebrations, and the Libraries are in the throes of planning. The Fourth of July is a big deal in town: parades, floats, fresh squeezed lemonade with gritty sugar in the bottom of the cup, and the great big book sale!

Folks have been donating books since July 5, of 2016, and on Monday, July 3, the event will be open to Andover residents from 4 to 7 PM. On Tuesday, July 4, the sale will run from morning until 2 PM. Come and get ’em! And cheer on our float!

On the third Tuesday of each month, beginning June 20, at the Andover Library, Thom Smith will lead a poetry workshop for interested writers. He foresees a combination of writing, reflection, and reading. Having met with him to discuss the approach to a workshop setting, I anticipate fruitful Tuesdays with town poets.

Kids, keep your eyes out for summer reading programs at the Libraries!
