Fourth of July Committee Report

Press Release

Preparations are well underway for this year’s 4th of July celebration. Registrations for the Market on the Green are out-pacing last year. The bands have been selected for music on the Green and plans for the Opening Ceremonies are falling into place. The committee has put in an order for good weather!

We are also in the final stages of selecting a parade theme. Thanks to all of you who have given us suggestions. It’s wonderful to see the community so heavily involved. Just about all the paid parade participants have sent back their signed contract. Following our 75 year tradition, our Children’s Parade will go off as usual. We are hoping for a large turnout this year. Don’t forget that the children’s parade forms at the Andover Fire Station, where we have bathroom facilities, drinks and shade! This is the most fun part of the parade. Those little ones are the best! If anyone is interested in helping with organizing the Children’s Parade or assisting on the day, please call Beth Frost at 735-5562.

We hope to see everyone on Thursday, June 7 at 6 PM for a free concert (donations appreciated)  at the Amphitheater behind theTown Offices. Sferes & White will open for Nicks Other Band. Come enjoy our local talent!

Also, keep in mind the family movie night on Saturday, June 30th at the AE/MS gym. The committee has enlisted the students to help us with movie choices.

The committee needs assistance for a few hours on the 4th to help with parade registration, parade line-up, and running kid games on the Green. Past volunteers have remarked on how much they enjoyed interacting with kids and adults alike on this important community day.  If you are interested in helping, please join us at one of our meetings at 7 PM on the 1st Wednesday of each month at the Andover Fire Station or call Donna French at 735-6131 or Doug Phelps at 802-310-1045.
