4th of July Committee News

Press Release

There are a few things that New Englanders can count on. One of them is that it won’t snow on July 4th! One thing Andover residents can count on is a spectacular July 4th Celebration!

We have selected a parade theme from the suggestions received from the town’s people and the AE/MS students.  The winner is “Old Glory-Our American Flag”. You have to agree this is a theme that enables anyone to create a float…or just march…or ride a lawnmower!

The committee has decided once again to award a grand prize of $250 for the overall best parade entry (which includes a float, a vehicle, an animal, a marcher…you name it…every parade entry is eligible).

Here are some of the 4th Highlights:
June 7th – Free concert by Nick’s Other Band & Sferes & White
June 30th – Free family movie night at AE/MS gym
 Market on the Green
 Firecracker 5K Race
 Kids Games on the Green
 Road Relics Car Show
 Opening Ceremonies
Band concert on the Green by Kearsarge Community Band (morning)
 Children’s Parade
Music on the Green (Folk, Blue Grass & Pop) with refreshments for sale & free kids games (afternoon & evening)
 Boys and Girls softball
 Fireworks
The Dunking Booth (back by popular demand)

Again, the committee needs assistance for a few hours on the 4th to help with parade registration, parade line-up, and running kid games on the Green. Past volunteers have remarked on how much they enjoyed interacting with kids and adults alike on this important community day. If you are interested in helping, please join us at one of our meetings at 7 PM on the 1st Wednesday of each month at the Andover Fire Station or call Donna French at 735-6131 or Doug Phelps at 802-310-1045.
