The mission of the Summer Music Associates is to bring distinctive, diverse, and predominantly classical music concerts to the Lake Sunapee-New London region. A spectacular 46th season is planned for this year.

Boston Civic Symphony:  Saturday, June 22
Sawyer Theater, Colby-Sawyer College

The esteemed Boston Civic Symphony, now in its 95th year, will return for the eighth time to New London. Francisco Noya is the orchestra’s new and very dynamic musical director.  Francisco is a native of Venezuela and is a prominent figure in the Boston and New England music scene where he has earned a reputation as a versatile interpreter of symphonic and operatic literature. The program will include the Cello Concerto Op. 85 in E Minor by Sir Edward Elgar, BRANNON CHO, Cellist; Prelude to Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg by Richard Wagner; and the Firebird Suite by Stravinsky.

Rastrelli Cello Quartet:  Thursday, July 18
First Baptist Church
461 Main Street, New London

The Rastrelli Cello Quartet joins the roster, bringing some of “the best qualities of the venerated Russian cello tradition, namely lustrous tone combined with soulful expression.”  Their program, “From Brahms to Beatles” will delight and astound.

Chris Brubeck’s Triple Play: Saturday, July 27
Sawyer Theater, Colby-Sawyer College

Chris Brubeck’s Triple Play is back!  An evening of rousing blues and jazz and crazy harmonica playing will have you out of your seats!

William Ögmundson, Pianist: Thursday, August 15
First Baptist Church, New London

Our very own William Ögmundson, pianist, will perform the premier of his program, “American Beauty.”  The program, with original arrangements, traces the history of American music from Gottschalk and the simple melodies of the Shakers to the modern Bumble Boogie.

The Beacon Brass Quintet: Thursday, August 22
First Baptist Church, New London

The Beacon Brass Quintet returns to New London with a wide spectrum of music beginning with early works by William Byrd and ranging to the luscious melodies of Leonard Bernstein.  

All concerts begin at 7:00 PM.  
Tickets: Adults $25, Students $5.  Season tickets: $100 for five concerts.  GIFT TICKETS are available and may be presented at any of the five 2019 concerts.
